This time of year always seems to sneak up on me. Some days I feel like summer is never going to end and I will forever and always have piles of picked vegetables staring up at me, waiting to be preserved. Then it happens. I wake up one morning and the air is crisp and cool, bringing promises of shorter days and lower temperatures!
I spent this morning trying to clean up part of my summer garden.
It was done with satisfaction. Satisfaction knowing the plants I was pulling up produced well. Knowing I had preserved lots of food for the next 6-8 months. Feeling accomplished and remembering I grew a very successful garden while continuing to be an inventory manager at Polyface, a new wife, and a mother to this little man. I sure didn’t know if I could do it all when the season started!
So here comes an end to another season. I am grateful for all the summer has held, the good things and the challenges. Let the leaves start falling!
What is the one thing about your summer you will always remember?
